Bike Europe will be holding its first conference on supply chain flexibility on Aug. 30, the day before the opening of Eurobike 2016, which will run from Aug. 31 to Sept. 4 in Friedrichshafen, Germany. The new conference, which is entitled “Supply Chain – Increased Speed to Market Conference,” will take place at Conference Center East - Room Berlin from 13:00 to 17:00. The event will be focusing on how to achieve shorter lead times. Consumers, and especially online shoppers, want to have the products of their choice within hours. In order to meet changing consumer behavior, the bicycle industry in Europe is obliged to transform, trying to reduce lead times for OEM component orders. Accell and Decathlon, which account for a combined 20 percent of the total European bicycle market, will be presenting their strategies on bringing lead times down. The conference program also includes presentations by Benno Messingschlager, the chief executive of Messingschlager, and Jack Oortwijn, editor-in-chief of Bike Europe, who will both address the question of shortened lead times. After these four speakers, an executive panel debate will take place, followed by a Q&A session.
