After entering the Italian market with the opening of its very first store in Trento last May, Austria-based board sports and lifestyle specialist Blue Tomato, part of US-based Zumiez, has opened three more stores in Milan, Bergamo and Udine before the end of 2023.

With over 850 employees and more than 450,000 products, Blue Tomato is one of the world’s largest online retailers in the snowboard, freeski, surf, skateboard and street style sectors. Blue Tomato was founded in 1988 by former Austrian European snowboard champion Gerfried Schuller.

In recent years, the online retailer has greatly expanded its presence in brick-and-mortar stores: Blue Tomato already operates more than 85 stores in Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Sweden and Finland. “We are very happy about the warm welcome in the new locations and also about how tangible the enthusiasm of our new teams, customers, and the community is,” commented Tillmann Ruprecht, Director of Sales & Service at Blue Tomato, on the openings in Italy. “We still see a lot of potential in Italy to give more people access to our brands, our products and Blue Tomato.”

The blue-tomato.com website registers up to 125,000 visitors per day, with the webshop available in 14 languages.
