Blue Tomato has opened another store in Münster, expanding the action sports retailer's network to 30 stores in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Owned by Zumiez since 2012, the group has been multiplying store openings in the last years: It moved into Vienna, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Munich, Stuttgart, Hamburg and Berlin, and more recently opened its first Swiss store in Zurich. The stores are helping to deploy the multi-channel strategy of Blue Tomato, which raised its sales by 36 percent to €69 million in 2015. Its online store operates in 14 languages and boasts 90,000 visitors per day. Zumiez reported a sales rise of 8.4 percent to $221.4 million for the quarter to Oct. 29, with a comparable sales increase of 4 percent. The group's international sales, through stores in Europe and Australia, were up by 14.6 percent. Its net income reached $10.7 million for the quarter, up from $9.7 million for the same three months last year. For the first nine months of its fiscal year, Zumiez' turnover increased by 1.9 percent to $572.6 million, with a comparable sales decline of 2.5 percent, and its net income for the nine months reached $7.7 million, down from $15.6 million for the same period last year. They include charges of about $1.5 million associated with the acquisition of Blue Tomato.
