Instead of just offering its board sports hardware, Blue Tomato has implemented a new equipment rental system both online and in brick-and-mortar stores in Austria, Germany and the Netherlands called “Rent Your Ride.” To date, 14 stores are associated, offering on-site education, rental, and board maintenance services. The boards and bindings for men, women and kids range from beginner’s sets up starting at €5 per day to freeride items at different price levels and advanced-level split boards for touring at a daily rate of at least €30.
The boards with bindings can be either ordered online through a booking platform and picked up in Blue Tomato stores with rental services, or home-delivered. The customers can change the rented set-up if it does not meet their expectations. After renting the equipment, customers can get a voucher worth €35 toward its purchase as part of the European action sports retail chain’s “Test & Buy” offer.
