As reported by the Orange County Business Journal (OCBJ) and Shop-Eat-Surf, Boardriders has laid off many employees in various regions. Both media report a loss of about 170 jobs (110 positions in the Americas and 60 in the Asia-Pacific regions). In a statement quoted by SES, the company reorganizes its global operations to be able to respond more nimbly to the market and its customers by reducing the complexity across its value chain. In the past years, the company has seen many changes on the executive level, including the CEO, the president of commercial strategy and growth and the COO. The Boardriders group is owned by Oaktree Capital Management and runs the brands Quiksilver, Element, Roxy, RVCA and DC Shoes, among others.
