Bob Carr, a highly respected American journalist who we knew well, died on Sept. 28 of a heart attack at the age of 72, after many years of valiantly fighting against a series of health challenges. He became the editor of Sporting Goods Business when the U.S. magazine was founded in 1965. He quickly established a reputation for himself as a source of exclusive news and gossip about the industry. In the 1980s, he set up his own newsletter, Inside Sporting Goods. He formally retired in 2006 but continued to keep in touch with his friends in the sporting goods sector.
