British sportswear brand Castore has proposed that the road currently known as Church Road in Wimbledon be retitled Murray Mile after Scottish tennis star Sir Andy Murray. The road is 2 km in length from Wimbledon Rail Station.
“In a passionate display of support for Castore ambassador and investor Andy Murray’s on court achievements, we have proudly announced our mission to levy Merton Council to make the name change permanent,” the brand said in a statement. Murray has been one of Castore’s ambassadors and investors since 2019.
Members of the general public can show their support for the idea by signing the petition at www.change.org/Castore_Murray_Mile.
