The first Spanish sports brand to have produced a pickleball shoe is now supplying the first official shoe for Spain’s professional pickleball circuit.
Joma has decked out its Picklet model, introduced in 2024, in the colors of the Pickle Pro Tour (PPT), the professional pickleball circuit of Spain’s Royal Tennis Federation (RFET). Joma and PPT alike see the shoe as encouraging pickleball’s growth and consolidation in Spain, where the sport has made notable gains in recent years.

Joma has since February 2022 been the RFET’s technical sponsor for tennis – covering all national team categories and disciplines: Davis Cup, BJK Cup, all ages. The two parties renewed their deal for four years in November 2024.
But the RFET had nothing to do with pickleball until September 2023, when, as we then reported, it reached an agreement with the Spanish Pickleball Association (Asociación Española de Pickleball).
Meanwhile, the PPT, Spain’s first and so far only official pickleball circuit, dates back to March 2025. The RFET took part in its debut but had no hand in its creation. Credit there goes to B3 Sportainment (Madrid) and to one of the circuit’s early sponsors, Cervezas Victoria, which has just renewed its sponsorship for another ten years.
Cervezas Victoria is one of the beers produced by the big Spanish brewery Damm – the company that, after nine years’ involvement and a year’s sole ownership, sold the World Padel Tour (WPT) to Qatar Sports Investment (QSI), as we reported in August 2023. That deal provided for the fusion of WPT with another QSI property, Premier Padel, and yielded the present-day unified padel tour, overseen by the International Padel Federation (FIP).
B3, a specialist in event management, is still involved with the PPT and with pickleball, the first racquet sport it ventured into. The rest of its portfolio is made up of action sports and climbing.
Advent of the pickleball shoe
Shoes designed for pickleball have been with us for at least a half-decade. K-Swiss, a US brand under Korean ownership, claims to have been “the first brand to introduce a court shoe specifically designed for pickleball” – the Express Light Pickleball. Several other brands – Wilson, Nike, Skechers – have followed suit over the past couple of years.
The first European brand to market appears to have been France’s Babolat, with the Jet Mach 3. Babolat’s earlier entries were, like Head’s, reworked models of tennis shoes.
