Hoka has unveiled a collaboration with Swedish running label Unna on a limited-edition reimagining of the Speedgoat 2. The partnership reflects the brand’s goal in the performance footwear segment to differentiate itself from other brands and reach new audiences.

Speadgoat: A new take on a trail icon
The Speedgoat 2, one of the Deckers Brand’s core trail models, has been reinterpreted through Unna’s lens of wellbeing and design transformation. The shoe combines high-performance features with retro detailing, such as natural rubber tones on the mid- and outsole and subtle metallic finishes. Unique to the collaboration are detachable glow-in-the-dark rubber “caterpillars,” a symbolic nod to metamorphosis and personal growth.
Hoka is launching the shoe in two colorways, Astral/Galaxy and Sea Ice/Cosmic Gray, each priced at €170 or CHF 190.

Shared philosophy
“Hoka has always believed in empowering runners to find joy in movement, and working with Unna, whose ethos is rooted in community and optimism, was a natural fit,” said Thomas Cykana, Senior Director of Global Collaborations at Hoka. Unna founder and Creative Director John-Ruben Holtback added: “The Speedgoat 2 has been my go-to trail shoe for six years. Redesigning it with Hoka allowed us to create something that works on trail and in daily life, reminding runners that progress is personal and growth happens at your own pace.”
Collaborations as a growth strategy
The Hoka x Unna tie-up underscores how running brands are increasingly leveraging collaborations not only with fashion houses but also with specialist running labels, aiming to reach not only core customers but a wider audience. Earlier this year, Puma partnered with Copenhagen-based Saysky on a capsule collection, trying to merge high-performance running apparel with streetwear aesthetics.
