Reebok and Mattel have joined forces to launch a Barbie-inspired campaign, the Barbie Dream Gap Project, and to release a full-family footwear and apparel collection, timed to celebrate Barbie’s 65th anniversary.
According to Reebok, the campaign aims to highlight Barbie and Reebok’s shared commitment to empowering girls while drawing attention to women’s obstacles and the underrepresentation of black and brown women in the footwear industry.
The Barbie x Reebok campaign draws inspiration from the Barbie brand’s global mission to challenge gender stereotypes and help undo the biases that prevent girls from reaching their full potential.
In conjunction with the collection and in furtherance of its own “Human Rights Now!” and “United Against Racism” initiatives, Reebok will collaborate with the Barbie Dream Gap Project and Girls Inc. of Boston and Lynn, Massachussetts, an affiliate of Girls Inc. National, which is dedicated to helping girls become strong, confident leaders. Reebok will be donating to Girls Inc. and hosting young members of the Lynn chapter at its global headquarters in Boston.
