Brazil has announced plans to bid for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the nation’s Sports Ministry announced on March 7. The other contenders are currently South Africa and a joint bid by Belgium, Netherlands and Germany. Soccer executives in the U.S. recently said they are also considering a bid but either in 2027 or 2031. Both Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo have expressed interest in hosting the final of the tournament if Brazil wins the bid. Before getting there, the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup is scheduled to take place from July 20 to Aug. 20 in Australia and New Zealand.
