According to Sport Guide, which refers to “several concordant sources,” Frasers Group plans to make an offer for Go Sport, the French retailer currently undergoing a rough patch. Go Sport, which operates 223 stores in France, was placed in receivership by the Commercial Court of Grenoble in January. The court set March 10 as the deadline for submitting takeover bids to the receiver. According to the report, Frasers would partner in the venture with rival JD Sports. Neither Frasers nor JD Sports have confirmed the information, Sport-Guide explains in the report. Frasers is the owner of Sports Direct. A takeover would allow both Sports Direct and JD Sports to expand their retail footprint in France. Sports Direct only has six stores in France, while the JD Sports stores in the country are around one hundred.
