Burton Snowboards reported late last month that its founder and chairman, Jake Burton, is expected to make a full recovery in the next few months, after undergoing treatment for a very dangerous and rare disease. He spent nearly two months on full life support at a hospital for a case of Miller Fisher Syndrome, which temporarily paralyzed his entire body as his immune system attacked his nervous system. Indicating that he is now out of danger, the company said he has been undergoing intense rehabilitation at his home in Vermont. For Jake Burton, who owns his namesake company together with his wife Donna Carpenter, this is a second case of widely publicized medical alert. Four years ago, he revealed that he was being treated for testicular cancer.
