Casino, a French chain of supermarkets and hypermarkets, is testing a sporting goods corner at one of its stores at Fontaine in the Isère region, according to sport-guide.com. Named Go Sport Basics, the area features only private label products by Go Sport, the French chain of sporting goods stores which, like Casino, is owned by Rallye. Carrefour apparently made a similar experiment in France and Spain but dropped the initiative after its failure to win over the major sports brands.
