Charles van Schaik has been placed in charge of Runnersworld, the chain of specialist running stores belonging to Euretco, the Dutch buying group that also supervises Sport 2000 in the Netherlands. Van Schaik has been in the Dutch sports industry for many years, with executive functions at Reebok, Asics and Crocs Europe. Starting next week, Van Schaik will report to Steve Evers, head of all the retail banners at Euretco. He succeeds Damy Rutjes, who became buying and merchandising manager for Sport 2000 last year. Runnersworld has been growing rapidly in the last years to reach retail sales of €17.7 million in 2010, up by 9 percent including three store openings and up by 2 percent in comparable terms.
