Claude Benoit is retiring as president of Asmas, the Swiss sporting goods retailers' association, which he entered in 1975 and led since 1977, starting off as secretary general. He will continue to act as a consultant to Asmas, and he will also continue to run Fedas, the European sporting goods retailers' federation. Asmas elected Peter Bruggmann as its new president. The 50-year-old is a shareholder and chief executive of Umbrail Sport, a chain of golf shops in the eastern part of Switzerland. He will work with two new vice presidents, François Cruchon of François Sports in Morges and Joe Purtschert of Rigi Sort in Küssnacht.
