Comparable store sales at Belle International's sportswear and apparel stores in mainland China increased by 6.2 percent for the three months until February – the fourth quarter of the big Chinese retailer's financial year. The company had 7,111 sportswear and apparel stores at the end of the quarter, all of them directly managed by the company, compared with 13,762 footwear stores. The number of outlets in mainland China increased by 367 on a net basis for the quarter. However, the performance of the footwear stores was markedly weaker, as their comparable sales shrank by 16.5 percent for the quarter. More in Shoe Intelligence.
