Confirming its master franchising agreement with the Falaknaz Sports Group for the Gulf States (SGI Europe, vol. 28 – 5+6 of Feb. 22), Sport 2000 International unveils a plan to establish 30 Sport 2000 stores in the region over the next five years – 11 in the United Arab Emirates, 10 in Saudi Arabia, three in Bahrain, two in Kuwait and two in Oman. They will focus on locally popular sports such as football, running, training, fitness, basketball and tennis. Founded in 1995 in Dubai, the Falaknaz Group already operates seven Emirates Sports stores as well six Asics stores and two Onitsuka Tiger stores. A former distributor of Asics, it currently represents BH Fitness and Butterfly.
