Have the Swedes gone cold?

To judge by internet search volume, according Diffusion Sport, padel is still growing all over Europe – well, almost. It’s turns out there’s a hold-out, and even a rejecter.

Spain, the sport’s mega market, has seen searches increase by 49 percent over the past five years, and the country has amassed more searches than any other. The growth figure rises to 123 percent in Italy, which also generates the second-most searches.

Growth reaches another order of magnitude in the Nordics, although total searches there are fewer. Norway saw growth of 1,710 percent, and Denmark of 2,120 percent. Farther east we have Poland’s 1,326 percent, and down in the Balkans Serbia’s whopping 5,900 percent.

Belgium, however, saw zero growth in searches. And Sweden – despite its enthusiasm for the sport over the past several years, and the now-gung-ho Norwegians next door – saw an actual decline, of 18 percent.
