The CEO of Mad Jack Snowsports, Kristin Mehiel, has announced that she intends to sell the company to give it the opportunity to grow further. The California-based company has in the past launched a novel ski boot that allows users to ski with the comfort of a snowboard boot: the MadJack. The company is also responsible for producing a similar innovation in alpine touring.

The MadJack is a patented device and the brainchild of an aerospace engineer. Its versatility transforms snowboard boots into ski bindings and is designed to give snow sports enthusiasts the freedom to ski in comfort. According to the manufacturer, ski performance is not affected by the MadJack, and its affordability allows users to buy a pair for the whole family.

Mad Jack Snowsports came to market in 2017 with a successful Kickstarter campaign and focused on selling directly to consumers online and through online marketplaces like Amazon. In 2019, the Alpine Touring version of the MadJack was developed with a similar philosophy, allowing backcountry skiers to hike in a snowboard boot but ski down just like a traditional touring boot.
