Gulf Marketing Group (GMG) has acquired Royal Sporting House from the Al-Futtaim Group. The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed. GMG Sports, one of GMG’s divisions, is described as the largest sports retailer and distributor in the Middle East, with more than 200 stores across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and a portfolio of more than 90 sports and fitness brands including Nike, Jordan, The North Face, Columbia, Timberland, Vans and more, adding to homegrown concepts like Sun & Sand Sports and others. Royal Sporting House is a multi-brand sports retailer with a substantial presence in Southeast Asia, thanks to 200 outlets across Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. The transaction will allow GMG to strengthen its presence in that region.
