Time2padel, a Spanish pádel retailer which also owns the Padelmania banner, is embarking on a major international retail expansion through franchises and “corner” shops at pádel clubs, according to a report in CMDsport. This year in Italy it will be adding two new franchises, in Naples and Palermo, to the two that already exist in Rome and Syracuse. “Before this year is out,” said Varela, “Time2padel will have a warehouse, a country manager and a sales network” – the start of a subsidiary – in Italy. At present there is a team of three handling the country’s business from Spain. By the end of 2022 there should be 15 points of sale in Italy.
Time2padel in the “initial phases” of establishing a Swedish subsidiary as well, though it will not be operational until next year. Papers have been signed, however, for a first franchise. The situation is similar in Chile, where Time2padel is close to establishing its first store. In Spain – where it maintains franchises in Castellón and Valencia and a directly managed store in Madrid – the retailer is in negotiations with several potential franchisees.
As previously reported, a larger Spanish pádel specialist, Padel Nuestro, is also expanding rapidly abroad, focusing on Italy, Portugal and Sweden.
in the first six months of this year, Time2padel’s sales equaled the total turnover of €2.7 million generated in 2020. The company’s CEO, Miguel Ángel Varela, said the growth would have been even higher if the company had enough inventories to meet the growing demand from the market, especially from outside the Spanish domestic market. The plan now is to double that figure by year’s end.
In line with its strong development, Time2padel expanded its staff from four to 26 in the past year, setting up posts for specialists in e-commerce, management, operations, internationalization and financial control. It has also revamped its website.
