Fishbrain, the developer of a sport fishing app based in Stockholm, has raised $31 million in funding. The backers include Consensus Småbolagsfond and Adrigo Asset Management, as well as all main existing shareholders including B Capital Group and SoftBank Ventures Asia. Fishbrain will use the funding to continue to expand its user base and strengthen its position in Sweden and Norway while reinforcing its engineering, product, marketing and sales teams at its Stockholm headquarters and product hub. The company also plans to hire across Europe and in the U.S. Fishbrain is a tech start-up with a user base of more than 11 million anglers across the globe. The app helps anglers find nearby fishing locations and discover the best times to fish, and provides other tools and support to help users enjoy fishing. The Fishbrain app also operates as a social network to socialize with other anglers and share fishing experiences and memories. In addition, the Fishbrain Shop, which is Fishbrain’s in-app and on-web marketplace, allows users to find and purchase fishing gear from over 300 brands.
