Sport-Tiedje, the German-based online and offline retail specialist for home fitness equipment, is investing in a new central warehouse in Schleswig-Holstein to supply its own stores and its online customers throughout Europe, according to SAZ Sport.

In the 2020 pandemic year, Sport-Tiedje increased its sales by 55 percent to €203 million. Due to the pandemic, the demand had grown so strongly in recent months that the previous warehouse in Büdelsdorf became too small and several additional alternative areas had to be rented.

The new location with a total area of 83,000 square meters is located at Osterrönfeld, a municipality in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district. The project will start at the end of 2021 with the construction of a 30,500-square-meter hall, leaving extra space for possible expansion at a later date. The new logistics center should be ready one year from now, in October 2022. Sport-Tiedje plans to employ around 110 people there once the construction is completed.

The head office of the Sport-Tiedje Group will remain in Schleswig. The company currently employs a total of around 700 people in ten European countries. The home fitness specialist operates 35 stores in Germany and 31 other stores in the U.K., Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Poland and France. The product portfolio includes not only home equipment, but also professional equipment for gyms, companies, sports clubs, hotels and physiotherapy practices.
