Sportsbusiness.at has reported that Head N.V., the holding company of Head Sports, has taken over Indigo, a Munich-based ski producer that filed for bankruptcy protection in April. Indigo is best known as the exclusive licensee of Bogner and its Fire+Ice sub-brand for skis and ski accessories, including helmets, goggles, glasses, ski poles, bags and hats. It has also been making ski equipment under its own brand and for O’Neill. Its premium-quality skis have been made by hand in Germany, offering a customization service. According to media reports, an essential part of Indigo’s takeover was the fact that the two innovative engineers who founded the company in 1989, Thorsten Schwabe and Gregor Baer, have committed themselves to continue the sustainable development of the products and the brand under the new ownership structure. As part of the Head group of companies, Indigo plans to drive the development of innovations in the area of ski equipment. It will have access to a global distribution network in over 80 countries. Important new target markets could be North America and Asia.
