Head Sport has decided to handle its own distribution in Norway, establishing a foothold of its own in Oslo on Jan. 1, 2021. The switch is occasioned by the bankruptcy in February of Gresvig, which has been Head’s Norwegian distributor for 20 years. The brand will be taking advantage of the situation both to expand its network of Norwegian dealers and to raise its Norwegian profile in racquet sports, which was never a focus for Gresvig. Magnus Holmqvist, Head Racquetsport’s former manager for certain clubs and dealers, was not in a position to cover all of Norway, according to the brand. Head believes that the rise of pádel now presents new opportunities. Martin Markussen, former category manager of Alpine HW for Gresvig at Intersport Norway, will be in charge of the new subsidiary, with Iacob Mehren in the subordinate role of category manager. The search is on for a junior sales representative. Head Norway’s customer service will be handled by a team already charged with all of northern Europe and headquartered at Head Scandinavia in the Swedish city of Åre. Head will be shipping all Norwegian orders from its warehouse in Austria, enabling dealers to access stock and place orders at any time.
