Kask, an Italian company founded in 2004 specialized in sports and work helmets, announced the acquisition of Vogel, a Manhattan-based maker of riding boots and other footwear since 1879. The purchase is part of Kask’s strategy of increasing its presence in the fashion business while remaining an established company in the sports industry. The Italian firm already entered partnerships with the fashion labels Moncler, Paul Smith and Zegna in the past.

Kask has had a subsidiary in Charlotte, North Carolina, since 2010 to cater to the sports and work segments. It will open in the spring a showroom in Manhattan as part of its plans to relaunch the Vogel brand. The U.S. company will also undergo a rebranding comprising an overhaul of its logo.
