Highsnobiety has laid off around 10 percent of its workforce – around 24 employees – across several departments, including editorial, commerce, data and marketing, according to Business of Fashion. Breaking the news, BoF cites Highsnobiety Founder and CEO David Fischer and Chief Operating Officer Jürgen Hopfgartner as blaming unfavorable economic conditions and the need for cost-cutting measures.
In a statement released exclusively to BoF, Highsnobiety confirmed the company is “streamlining our global structure to more closely align with the shifting industry as well as internal needs as the publishing, the e-commerce and the agency elements of our company continue to individually evolve and expand.” Adding that its “longer-term vision remains unchanged by any of these measures.”
Highsnobiety was founded in 2005 as a streetwear-focused blog but now has a multi-channel presence, which includes a multi-brand online shop established in 2019. It was acquired by Zalando in June 2022.
