As reported by sportstextiles.com, Japanese e-commerce company E-store Corporation has taken steps to acquire Shiffon, a Tokyo-based licensee and developer of brands such as Kappa and Hummel, and Phenix licensee* for its worldwide sales territories except for China, the brand founded in 1952 that is the official outfitter of the Norwegian Alpine and Olympic ski teams. Shiffon covers a wide range of categories, from children’s apparel and school bags to ski/snowboard apparel and sportswear, and has built its own supply chain to cover all aspects of its business. The purchase price agreed by E-store and Shiffon for 50.2 percent of Shiffon’s shares is about 1.67 billion yen ($12.2 million), according to sportstextiles.com. According to local media, the new owner will seek to align Shiffon’s sports and fashion businesses more closely with an e-commerce operating model.

*(The original version of this article stated incorrectly that Shiffon is the ”owner of Phenix.” We would like to apologize for this mistake!)
