Italian textile company Limonta has announced the acquisition of BATM Co., Ltd., a Seoul-based firm that offers textiles for sportswear developed and produced in South Korea. The acquisition is meant to strengthen Limonta’s presence in Asia while enhancing its offer of innovative textiles for the world of fashion and luxury, Limonta said in a statement. Following the acquisition, BATM will be renamed as Limonta BATM LLC. Jonathan Yang, founder and CEO of BATM, will retain the CEO position in the new company. Limonta was established in 1919 as Limonta Battisti & Figli, but the very first generation of the Limonta family began the production of tapestries and jacquard fabrics even earlier, in 1893. The company, which is currently led by Paolo Limonta, is headquartered in Costa Masnaga, in Italy’s region of Lombardy. BATM, founded in Seoul in 2003, has been present at major European industry shows since 2008.
