Rawlings Sporting Goods Company, the global brand and manufacturer of baseball and softball equipment, has acquired the Jack Corbett Hollywood Bases brand from Schutt Sports.
The acquisition allows Rawlings to add field bases and accessories to its list of officially licensed Major League Baseball (MLB) products. The Jack Corbett Hollywood base, made by Schutt Sports, is the official base of MLB and is used on every MLB field. Rawlings is the official baseball, helmet, face guard and glove of MLB, the official baseball of Minor League Baseball (MiLB), and the official baseball and softball of the NCAA and the NAIA.
Jack Corbett, a former minor league player and manager, developed the Hollywood base design after realizing that bases at the time, filled with sand, sawdust, or dirt, were too loose. For increased stability, his innovation added an underground stem to attach to the base.
