South Africa’s leading trade publication in the sporting goods sector, Sport Trader, will have to be “paused for the time being,” because of the coronavirus pandemic. Nicol and Trudi du Toit bought the 40-year-old magazine 23 years ago, and they have continued to run it together with their daughter, Carin Hardistry. They said they had to adjust to operating without income during the first half of this year. While fearing that the situation will continue until at least next year, they said they took the hard decision to cut their losses until the sports and outdoor retail market recovers.
