Premier Padel’s president, Luigi Carraro, appears to be as good as his word. As we reported last week, the league has been promising to bring women into its tournaments over the course of the current season. Indeed, Carraro said, the only reason the women weren’t playing already in the Ooredoo Qatar Major was that the negotiations were not yet complete. Well, they just might be complete for the next tournament: the Italy Major, scheduled for Rome on July 10-16.

More than 110 women have now signed on to compete alongside the men at tournaments held under the Premier Padel name and organized by the International Padel Federation (FIP). Negotiations are underway with venues to determine which of the scheduled tournaments can add to the women’s circuit right away.
