Therabody, the U.S.-based maker of the Theragun massage therapy gun and other therapeutic training aids, said it has drawn more financing after its revenues tripled in 2020 to an unspecified level, thanks in part to its expansion into more than 60 countries, with offices recently opened in London, Dublin and Shanghai. Over the past year and a half, moreover, it has expanded its retail sales from 40 stores in the U.S. to some 10,000 internationally. Therabody, which has been profitable since 2017, will be using the new capital to develop new products and services and to expand further abroad. There are plans to sell through stores in ten new countries by 2022. So far, the company has raised equity investments – directly or through a venture capital firm – from about 100 celebrities, among them the entertainers Jay-Z, Daniel Craig, Kevin Hart, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake and Shawn Mendes. The company’s non-invasive pain-management system is now used in Europe by Kevin De Bruyne, the Manchester City team’s midfielder, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, the Liverpool defender, among others. It recently signed multi-year partnerships with the Manchester City, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain clubs.
