WeSports announced the acquisition of a stake in RunningXpert, a Danish running specialist that operates the stores Løbeshop.dk, Löparshop.se and RunningXpert.com. RunningXpert claims to be the leading running specialist in the Nordic region, with a turnover of €35 million in 2022. The company currently serves over 1 million active runners with a dedicated team of 70 employees, many of whom are former or current top athletes. In addition to acquiring the shares, WeSports says it has agreed on a long-term partnership with the founding family and management with the vision of becoming Europe’s preferred online running specialist. Ivan Jaeger Christiansen will continue to lead RunningXpert as CEO.
The acquisition will enable WeSports to further strengthen its position in its running & outdoor segment across Europe, as RunningXpert has a significant customer base in Denmark and continental Europe, while WeSports has a very strong presence in the other Nordic countries. As a result, this partnership is expected to significantly increase the group’s overall organic growth.
The partnership also enhances WeSports’ customer offering through the upcoming relaunch of Keller Sports. WeSports acquired the assets of German retailer Keller Sports earlier this year and plans to relaunch the brand before the end of 2023. RunningXpert will play an important role at Keller Sports and take on a major responsibility. WeSports is confident that Keller Sports will become one of the most significant sports performance initiatives in Europe from 2023 to 2027. The soon-to-be-launched comprehensive new sports destination is based on a novel customer concept where the best sports specialists in their respective fields work together to create a unified European leader in performance sports.
