Wyve, the French maker of 3D-printed surfboards, has raised €1.1 million from BACS-Innov. Wyve was founded by Sylvain Fleury and Léo Bouffier in 2018, and is based in Anglet. BACS-Innov is an investment firm headquartered in Lyon that supports young and innovative start-ups in various sectors insofar as the investors and founders of these companies are alumni of top French graduate schools Ecole Centrale, Supélec, and Centrale Supélec. Wyve plans to double its staff, currently ten, and to boost its research and development efforts, with the final objective of moving from 100 surfboards produced last year to more than 300 this year, Sport Guide has reported. Wyve’s manufacturing and distribution model revolves around local micro-factories. Its tailor-made surfboards are produced using bio-based and eco-friendly materials.
