The Kingdom of Bahrain is set to revolutionize leisure and tourism by launching the region’s first surf park, Bahrain Surf Park, powered by Wavegarden Cove technology. Located within the expansive Bilaj Al Jazayer development, the surf park will be a key attraction for water sports enthusiasts, tourists and locals.

Developed in partnership with Edamah, GFH Financial Group and Wavegarden, Bahrain Surf Park will offer a top-tier surfing experience, positioning Bahrain as a regional hub for water-based recreation. The Wavegarden Cove technology can generate up to 1,000 waves per hour, accommodating over 90 surfers simultaneously. This versatile system creates waves for all skill levels, from mellow waves for beginners to steep barrels for professionals, making it ideal for both recreational use and competitions.
“We are excited to bring our innovative Wavegarden Cove technology to Bahrain,” said Fernando Odriozola, Chief Commercial Director at Wavegarden. “This project is a game-changer for surfing in the Middle East, offering unmatched wave quality and surfer capacity.”
The surf park aims to attract over 300,000 visitors annually and will be more than just a surfing destination. It will feature a skatepark, surf school, beach bars, retail stores and family-friendly amenities, creating a comprehensive recreational hub. The project is expected to host over 140,000 surf sessions each year. It will be a major feature of the Bilaj Al Jazayer development, recognized as Bahrain’s Best Leisure Development by the Arabian Property Awards.
Beyond its leisure offerings, Bahrain Surf Park will prioritize sustainability. Wavegarden’s wave-generation system is designed to be highly energy-efficient, using only 1 kWh per wave and minimizing environmental impact. This focus on efficiency underscores the park’s commitment to sustainability, aligning with Bahrain’s broader environmental goals.
