Amazon has announced that it is collaborating with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, an international charity dedicated to creating a circular economy, as a strategic partner. A key area of focus for the collaboration will involve the certifications for products with circular attributes, said Amazon. Along with the foundation, Amazon is working with two certification organizations – the NSF and International and Scientific Certification Systems Global (SCS Global) – to develop third-party certifications that recognize key circular attributes for products. In addition, Amazon and AWS Global Impact Computing Teams are supporting the foundation’s plastics initiative, which works with reuse partners and experts to develop a vision for scaling returnable packaging systems.
