Children’s book “Leader of the Pack”

The US subsidiary of Austrian ski manufacturer Blizzard, part of the Tecnica Group, announced that it has raised $60,000 through the sale of limited-edition Hilaree Nelson skis and the children’s book “Leader of the Pack.”

On Sept. 26, 2022, Nelson died in an avalanche during an expedition to Manaslu, the eighth-highest mountain in the world. Nelson was not only a remarkable athlete but also a beacon for women around the world, inspiring them to push boundaries and accomplish incredible feats in the outdoor world. Nelson was affectionately referred to as the “Leader of the Pack.” Blizzard’s initiative is a way to honor her memory and the causes she championed and to ensure that her work continues to make a lasting impact for years to come.

Along with the fundraising success comes an initiative to distribute these funds to non-profit organizations or individuals with ties to non-profit organizations that support causes that were close to Hilaree’s heart: empowering women in the outdoors and fighting climate change. The primary goal is to support women with funding opportunities that will not only allow them to follow in Nelson’s footsteps but also pave the way for future generations of women. This funding will support women in their endeavors and enable them to carry Nelson’s torch and pave the way for others.

As Blizzard looks to continue its social work – particularly to combat climate change and preserve our environment for future generations – the company invites anyone with initiatives or projects that align with these goals to apply for funding via its website.
