Db, makers of luggage for activities including surfing and snowboarding, has achieved B Corp status. Db achieved a 98.1 score, compared to the minimum requirement of 80.
To complete the certification, Db has taken certain steps to cement its commitment to being legally accountable to all of its stakeholders – workers, communities, customers, suppliers, and the environment alike. Some of the tangible steps include:
- A transition from virgin fabrics to 100 percent recycled and GRS-certified;
- 100 percent of products now free from PFC;
- 94 percent of all fabrics are Oeko-Tex certified;
- Offsetting more than 100 percent of its CO2e emissions which Db hasn’t yet been able to cut;
- The Db Renewed scheme, which offers repaired, second-hand products to 64 percent of Db’s customer base;
- All manufacturers enrolled in a decarbonization program;
- Programs and policies to promote Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, and paid community service days.
Norwegian-based Db is also hoping that its inclusion in the scheme will encourage more Nordic brands to join. CEO Eric Bascle said: “With only a hundred certified B Corps in the Nordics, we’re rallying for even more to join us – especially in Norway, where we became the eighth certified B Corp. This is an opportunity for us to prompt acceleration in this space.”
