Following a successful launch in continental Europe, Decathlon has introduced BuyBack in the UK, a service that allows customers to sell their old bikes back to the retailer for up to 45 percent of the RRP. The first part of the program will focus on bicycles and will later be extended to all expensive items such as kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and rackets to save customers money and give sports equipment a second life.
Decathlon has refurbished 251,000 products worldwide to date. In the UK, 15,000 bikes are expected to be refurbished annually by 2025, and 1,500 Decathlon employees are currently trained to provide rental and buyback services.
