Sports e-tailer Deporvillage has completed the installation of 286 solar panels on the roof of its new offices in Sant Fruitós de Bages (Barcelona). The company moved to its new 2,600-square-meter headquarters, from the previous one in Manresa, earlier this year, as also reported by SGI Europe at the time. Deporvillage expects to cover 84.5 percent of its current electricity consumption with clean energy from the new photovoltaic plant, which will also allow for significant financial savings. The solar plant has a total production capacity of about 186,880 kWh per year and represents an investment of around €93,000.
The installation of solar panels is part of Deporvillage’s broader sustainability plan, which began with the elimination of plastic from the packaging of its over 5,000 daily shipments and the activation of a campaign to reforest the planet by planting a tree for each unit sold of recycled products of its own brands. The company claims it has already planted more than 1,600 trees.
