Li & Fung, the Hong Kong-based supply chain management company, has joined forces with an environmental organization, Canopy, to help protect forests. The company says it will collaborate with its brand and retail customers to better protect forests through responsible material sourcing as well as sustainable product manufacturing and logistics. Canopy, founded in 1999, is a not-for-profit organization that partners with large and small companies to help protect the world’s ancient and endangered forests. Canopy’s brand partners include H&M, Zara/Inditex, Uniqlo, Stella McCartney, Target, Penguin-Random House and many others. Through its CanopyStyle initiative, the organization partners with fashion brands and their viscose suppliers to keep the world’s endangered forests out of viscose/rayon clothing. Through its Pack4Good program, Canopy works with large consumers of forest products to eliminate ancient and endangered forests from their cardboard and packaging. Li & Fung has committed to help Canopy in both action areas.
