Lululemon has joined the Sorting for Circularity USA project as a seventh external brand partner. Furthermore, Adidas has become the project’s lead sponsor. Sorting for Circularity USA was launched in January 2023 by Amsterdam-based Fashion for Good and Circle Economy, building on the learnings from Sorting for Circularity Europe and India to map the journey of a garment and present a comprehensive picture of textile waste composition generated in the U.S. The insights gained from the 18-month project are meant to inform decisions on the necessary actions and investments to scale collection, sorting and recycling innovations. Textile waste is a fast-growing segment of the U.S. waste stream, and 85 percent of the textile waste currently ends up in landfills.
