After a joint effort of The Microfibre Consortium (TMC) and its members, a wide database, called the TMC Fibre Fragmentation Data Portal, and a globally aligned and standard test method have just been released to help determine the level of microfibers shed from fabric during domestic laundering. The test method and detailed database for the specification of over 250 yarns and fabrics was developed through a collaboration between the University of Leeds (UoL), the European Outdoor Group (EOG) and TMC, along with a broader network of stakeholders. Besides the EOG, the board of TMC includes Equip, Helly Hansen, Primark and Marks & Spencer. The full list of TMC members can be found at https://www.microfibreconsortium.com/our-members.
