Circular Solutions Advisors (CSA), a US-based recycling advisory firm, has partnered with Plastiks, a blockchain-based platform headquartered in Barcelona, to create a credible system for tracking and verifying plastic recycling. Announced at the World Recycling Convention in Rome, this collaboration aims to improve transparency and accuracy in reporting recycled plastic, addressing the increasing demand for verifiable recycling data.

Through Plastiks’ blockchain technology, the platform enables businesses and factories to track the entire recycling journey of plastics, from collection to reuse. This process ensures companies can substantiate their recycling claims, a significant step toward combating greenwashing – the act of exaggerating or falsifying environmental responsibility. “The verification of plastic waste collection and recycling is crucial for ensuring transparency in sustainability efforts and the implementation of the circular economy through blockchain,” said Plastiks Founder & CEO André Vanyi-Robin.

CSA, led by CEO J.T. Marburger, brings over two decades of recycling and waste management expertise. Marburger emphasized that credibility is essential to circular economy reporting, stating, “With this partnership, we are going to a new level, ensuring no step is overlooked.”

While often associated with cryptocurrency, blockchain technology here provides a secure and transparent method for tracking recycling data. It allows companies to document each stage of plastic recovery, establishing a publicly accessible and tamper-proof record. This system benefits businesses aiming for regulatory compliance and transparent reporting to stakeholders.
