Oakley has converted part of its Foothill Ranch factory in Orange County, California, to supply face shields in order to meet growing demand for protective equipment against the Covid-19 virus. The 550,000-square-foot facility produces Oakley eyewear and goggles, and the face shields will be manufactured alongside existing products. The brand’s parent company, Luxottica, will donate the first 140,000 face shields to front-line workers in U.S. hospitals. The face shields will be made from a mix of polycarbonate, acetate, PET or APET. They are compatible with N95 respirator masks and protective eyewear and meet ANSI Z87.1 standards for protection against droplets.
