Ahead of International Women’s Day on March 3, an independent analysis has confirmed that Puma has closed the adjusted pay gap between male and female employees in Germany.

The results, certified by the FPI Fair Pay Innovation Lab, make Puma the second company in Germany to receive the title “Universal Fair Pay Developer.” The award is given to companies that show an adjusted gender pay gap of between +1 and -1 percent, taking into account pay differences that can be explained based on managerial responsibilities, age, job role, employment status, evaluation and partial retirement.

“It is one of our strategic priorities to ensure that we pay a fair compensation without discrimination,” said Dietmar Knoess, global director people and organization.

In its summary of 2022, Puma has also reported a 50/50 split in gender distribution in the group, with 44 percent of leadership roles filled by women. In 2022, the management board was joined by Maria Valdes as chief product officer, who, alongside chief sourcing officer Anne-Laure Descours, gives Puma a management board with an equal gender split.

Puma was named “Company of the Year at 2022’s German Diversity Award and was awarded the title “Top Employer 2023” globally by the Top Employer Institute at the start of 2023, receiving the award for four regions and 22 countries. The survey covers six areas and 20 topics, including HR strategy, work environment, talent acquisition, learning, diversity and inclusion, and well-being.
