Pádel Nuestro has signed a deal with Bown Sports & Sustainability, a promoter in Spain of a recycling initiative whose name, er, sounds like “sustainables.”
The objective of the SustainaBalls program is to collect used tennis and pádel balls. It does this by setting up bins at courts, clubs and – as of recently – Pádel Nuestro stores. So far, there are about 100 such bins in 30 clubs in Catalonia. According to Concetta Miceli, co-founder and director of sales and operations at Bown, the goal is to have bins throughout Spain by the end of this year.
Last year SustainaBalls collected 190,000 pádel and tennis balls and recycled some 1.2 tons of balls and packages in Catalonia. The program has established ties with such brands as Wilson, ONE16Sports and Playtomic.
Bown was founded in Barcelona in 2020.
