This spring Wintersteiger has decided to derive a substantial share of its electricity from the sun. Some 2,300 square meters of photovoltaic modules, spread over on seven roofs, are now churning out 300 kWp (kilowatt peak), or enough electricity for about 60 free-standing houses. The Austrian ski service and rental company has also purchased two Volkswagen ID.3 electric cars, each with a range of about 400 km per charge, for transportation within Ried im Innkreis and to the logistics center in St. Martin, both in Austria. Company staff is permitted use the cars free of charge on weekends.
